If the cabinet boxes are still solid and the layout can remain the same, the kitchen can get a different look without a full rebuild. This works well for homes where the cabinets feel old on the outside but still function fine day to day. ### Do I have to remove my countertops for cabinet refacing? In many cases, no. Since refacing keeps the cabinet boxes in place, existing countertops can often stay right where they are. That makes the project simpler and reduces extra demolition. If a homeowner wants new counters, too, that can be discussed as a separate upgrade. ### Can I make the kitchen look more modern without changing the layout? **Yes.** A new door style, updated finish, and fresh hardware can shift the whole feel of the room. Many homeowners use cabinet refacing to move away from older raised-panel looks and get something cleaner, brighter, or more current while keeping the same kitchen footprint. ### Is cabinet refacing a good option for older homes in Elmhurst? It can be, especially in homes where the kitchen layout still makes sense but the cabinet fronts show their age. Older homes often have kitchens that could look far better with updated surfaces and doors instead of a full cabinet tear-out. The condition of the cabinet boxes is more important than the age of the house. ### Can storage upgrades be added during a refacing project? Often, yes. A refacing job can also be a good time to add practical features like soft-close hardware, pull-out shelves, or other cabinet upgrades. That way, the kitchen doesn’t just look better; it works better too. ### Will cabinet refacing leave my kitchen unusable for weeks? Typically not. One reason homeowners look into Elmhurst cabinet refacing is that it is far less disruptive than a full cabinet replacement. The work is typically much shorter, as we finish many projects in a few business days rather than turning into a long remodel.
